Aziza Binti

Aziza Binti is a St. Louis based photographer, filmmaker, educator, speaker and passionate storyteller. Her passion for documentary film particularly surrounding the need for positive narrative shifts in black and brown communities began after local protests surrounding the death of black teen Trayvon Martin in 2012 and increased after the history making Ferguson Movement began in 2014 following the murder of Mike Brown Jr.

Aziza has taught youth and worked with several organizations such as Sistakeeper STL, Washington University's Center for Humanities, The Dutchtown South Community Corporation, St. Louis Artworks and most recently the Pulitzer Art Foundation. She has also facilitated professional developments for St. Louis area schools through her work with Liberated Genius.

Her most recent film work includes the 2019 social justice docu-series and 2018 short film of the same name, "Movement Women: The Making of a CREW, 2016 film "Injustice Anywhere.", documentary short, "Animate My Park." and MCU's "Break the School to Prison Pipeline." documentary short. Aziza continues to engage the community in her capacity as a licensed Peer Support Specialist and Social Support Manager with St. Louis area non-profit NPower Missouri, providing encouragement and emotional support with a focus on wellness and critical thinking to students from under-served communities ages 18-25.
